Decent work and economic growth

Indemar Industriale, headquartered in Busalla, Genoa, believes and supports the eighth UN Goal, which aims to promote sustainable and inclusive economic growth, along with the promotion of decent work not only for individual workers and their families, but for the entire local economy.

Recognizing the central role of employment in the fight against poverty, this goal highlights the importance of creating favorable conditions for the generation of quality jobs that ensure the dignity and rights of worker, essential for promoting economic growth by creating productive and fulfilling job opportunities, along with protecting workers’ rights and establishing a safe and healthy work environment for all.

Crucial to implementing this kind of policy is encouraging diversification, innovation, and the adoption of sustainable technologies to promote economic efficiency, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises.

Currently, 200 million people are unemployed; this high figure should prompt reflection on the importance of UN Goal #8 of the 2030 Agenda, crucial to ensuring that economic growth goes together with social welfare. Investing in the creation of decent jobs, promoting inclusive economic policies, and ensuring social protection for all are fundamental steps toward a fair and sustainable future. Achieving this goal will not only reduce poverty and inequality but will also help create stronger and more resilient societies.
